Questions
Everything people ask before they buy
Straight answers, grouped by what's actually on your mind right now, not a generic list padded out to look thorough.
Before you start
Do I need any teaching experience or a certificate first?
No. You don't need any previous teaching experience or a teaching certificate to take either course. Getting Started on Preply guides you step by step through setting up your profile, choosing your prices, and getting your first bookings. How to Teach the Perfect Lesson shows you how to structure and plan engaging lessons, with 60+ practical teaching activities, 150+ ready-made lesson topics, and 10+ complete example lessons. You'll learn how to prepare lessons, keep students engaged, and teach with confidence, even if you've never taught before.
Do I have to teach English?
Not at all. This isn't an English-teaching course. Preply has students learning dozens of languages, and everything here is written for any of them: Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, whatever it is you actually teach. The profile setup, pricing, booking scripts, lesson frameworks, and activity bank all work the same way regardless of which language you're teaching.
Do I need to be a native speaker?
No. Plenty of successful teachers on platforms like Preply aren't native speakers of the language they teach. What matters more is that you can teach it clearly and with confidence. The setup course covers how to write a profile that puts your actual strengths front and center, whatever your background is, instead of treating anything other than "native speaker" as something to apologize for.
How long does it actually take to get started?
Faster than most people expect. Getting Started on Preply is a checklist, not a course you sit through for weeks: most people have a live, complete profile within a couple of days. And because How to Teach the Perfect Lesson already gives you 150+ topics and 60+ activities, you're not stuck planning your first lesson from a blank page the moment someone actually books.
What if I'm not confident on camera yet?
That's normal, and it's covered directly rather than glossed over. Getting Started on Preply walks through exactly how to structure your intro video and your first few lessons, so you're working from a script and a structure, not improvising in front of a stranger.
What you're actually getting
What platform do I need to already know?
None. Getting Started on Preply is written for someone who has never touched Preply, or any teaching platform, before: what to set up, in what order, and which settings actually affect whether students find you. You don't need to have researched anything beforehand.
Is this just general teaching advice, or something I can actually use?
It's practical, not abstract. On the business side, that's setup checklists and message scripts for trials, bookings, and reviews. On the teaching side, it's 60+ activities, 150+ ready-made lesson topics, 10+ full example lessons you can teach almost as-is, the five-stage lesson framework behind all of it, and an AI lesson-planning bonus with ready-to-use prompts for kids, teens, adults, and complete beginners. All of it works whether your students are children or adults, complete beginners or advanced. The goal is that you open the material and start using it, not read it and still have to build everything yourself.
Can I read the lessons in a language other than English?
Yes, every lesson is also available in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian. Switch languages from inside the course portal at any time; nothing extra to buy, and nothing to set up in advance.
Buying & access
Why get the bundle instead of one course?
You can start with just one, since each course stands fully on its own. But most people end up needing both sides eventually: the setup without the teaching leaves you booked with nothing prepared, and the teaching without the setup means great lessons nobody's finding. Buying both together also costs €59 less than buying the two courses separately.
What happens right after I buy?
You get access immediately. There's no waiting for a start date or a cohort. If it's your first purchase, you'll get an email to set your password, and you're straight into the course portal; if you already have an account, the new course just appears there. Nothing is drip-fed or unlocked over time: the whole course is there from day one.
How does course access work, and do I keep it?
Yes. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription: no monthly fee, no deadline to finish by. Go through it at your own pace, in whatever order makes sense for you, and come back to any lesson later once you're actually teaching and want to double-check something.
What if I have a question after I've started?
Get in touch through the contact page or email hello@teachlanguagesonline.com. A real person reads it, not a ticket queue.
What if something on the site isn't working?
Please email hello@teachlanguagesonline.com and tell us what happened, ideally with a screenshot and which page you were on. We'll fix it as quickly as we can, and if it's stopping you from reaching your course, we'll make sure you get access in the meantime.
